Pain helps us become ourselves

Any of these questions resonate with you?

  • Feel taken for granted?
  • Need others approval to feel good about yourself?
  • Want to be in control all the time?
  • Are your values compromised?
  • Anxious?
  • Depressed?
  • Dream of a future that seems out of reach?
  • Desire better work-life balance?
  • Afraid to listen to your inner guidance?
  • Trouble saying no to others?

Chances are these questions are caused by worry about the future or carrying wounds from the past or both.  Letting go of worry and fear and being in the present moment will provide the answers if you listen.

Eckhart Tolle about being present in The Power of Now;

“All negativity is caused by an accumulation of psychological time and denial of the present. Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry – all forms of fear – are caused by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms
of non-forgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence.” ― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

What stops us from being in the present moment? Our unconscious pattern of avoiding pain and fear.

“Whatever you fight, you strengthen, and what you resist, persist.” – Eckhart Tolle

How do we overcome this unconscious pattern? We become aware and sit with our pain and fear until we no longer identify with it as ourselves.

“Don’t try to let go of the grievance or pain. Trying to let go, to forgive, does not work. Forgiveness happens naturally when you see that it has no purpose other than to strengthen a false sense of self, to keep the ego in place.” – Eckhart Tolle in A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose

“All that is required to become free of the ego is to be aware of it, since awareness and ego are incompatible. Awareness is the power that is concealed with the present moment. This is why we may also call it Presence. The ultimate purpose of human existence, which is to say, your purpose, is to bring that power into this world.” – Eckhart Tolle in A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
